TAYI TIBBLE

blood pacts

I hope you still feel good about
your handwriting and write poetry
on your wrists
and I hope your mother still
wrings her towels
like she would your neck if you ever
got them tattooed there like a stain
of us ’til death.

Tayi Tibble is a Wellington based poet of Māori and Pākehā descent (Te Whānau-ā-Apanui/Ngāti Porou). She is a current student at Victoria University and the International Institute of Modern Letters.
